DescriptionLocation This course will help REALTORS® understand the legal pitfalls in two areas: off-MLS listings and copyright law, and will discuss strategies for how to mitigate liability. This course will define off-MLS listings and discuss how certain types of activities that occur outside the MLS may result in increased liability to REALTORS®. The course will detail the layers of compliance that a REALTOR® must consider when using off-MLS listings in their practice, which include MLS rules, the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, and state and federal laws and regulations, and discuss what potential consequences may result for non-compliance. Additionally, the course will discuss the basics of copyright law and how they apply to real estate listings. The balance of the discussion about copyright will focus on copyright infringement and mitigating risk of infringing third party copyrights by providing practical options for brokers and agents. This course is approved for 1.5 CE hours by the Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce. This session is FREE.
